My apologies for the fuzzy photos... My LFS has had these for some months. They call them "Asian Butterfly Catfish" but I have not been able to find out anything about them. Can anyone ID them? They are now about three inches, appear to be totally naked/scaleless (like an Asian bumblebee--but they are much stockier, with flatter heads and rounder middles) and they have mouths big enough to eat a whole algae wafer in one bite. I want to be sure they are safe in a tank with clown loaches. Thanks!

Looks like Batrochoglanis raninus to me, which is a South American species.

As for the compatibility with your clown loaches, if it looks like the loaches might be able to fit in the catfish's mouth, then it is best not to risk it.

Thanks for the id--that does indeed look like these two guys. I will move them to a different tank in order to cut down on the late night snacking. Thanks!
