When living in Hawaii I learned to pronounce the name of the State fish... Humuhumunukunukua'pua'a. What, only scientific names

My bet is Acrochordonichthys septentrionalis for a total of 33 (18+15) letters.
I think Acanthobunocephalus (19 letters) is the longest generic name.

As far as the shortest name goes I would give it to Hara hara using size as the tie breaker.
Are there many others smaller in adult size as well?

The same can't be said for Chaca chaca. As an aside I vaugely remmber that the smallest shark species has the longest name. Or it's name in 12 point Times is the same size as the fish or something like that. Too busy to check...

I submit that Heok Hee deserves more than a mere species named after him. How about new genus + new species using the tautonym
Hee hee?

I think it's a straight transliteration of its Vietnamese name. It's English common name is the Great evening bat.
