Just got back from Las Estacas. I had never heard of the place but we were in Cuernavaca and it was in a guide book we picked up. Anyway, we ran (40 minute drive) over there to take a look. Absolutely beautiful! It is a 1.5 mile "river" where an underground river comes up from the hills, runs a bit in the open, and then goes back underground. Spotted were convicts, Tilapia, some cyprinid "suckers," goodeids, and livebearers. I will go back with a net and snorkle soonest. I was without a net or even shorts :(
The spawning convicts looked like nothing I have seen in the aquarium trade with their aquamarine breeding colors. The water was crystal clear.

You take the best photos! Those Convicts are beauties. It's nice to know that Livebearers are, well, alive and well. :D
