Mimbon Aquarium (Germany) has posted a pic of what they claim is a new Hypancistrus. Could it be H. sp. Belo Monte? Any suggestions? Here is the pic: http://www.mimbon.de/fishes/uname_catfish1.jpg

Hi,

i don't think taht this pleco is a sp."belo Monte". It seems like a very nice pattern L333 with a good colouration.

i would agree Sven, my friend own's a aquatic shop and when the last box of L333 came in he picked out one that stood out from the rest just like this one.

Thank you guys for the feedback! My father keeps a group of adult L333's, and compared to this specimen they are very dark, almost black. But I suppose they darken in colour as they age, as with i.e. L-260 and L66? I work in a fishstore myself, and I am yet to receive a L333 as nice as this one!

....and while we're at it, perhaps you could take the time to ID these Hypancistruses as well, found them at an Japanese site. Number 1: http://www.petfarm.jp/gallery/plecostom ... o-yero.htm

The first one appears to be L340 and the second a young L236 whose stripes are forming.
