Yann, am i correct in assuming that Leporancanthicus don't have interopercular odontodes?
Is this a reliable character in distinguishing them?

I have another question then, if this fish is indeed a Hypancistrus inspector then is it possible that it would eat a dead fish if it was laying at the bottom? I have some tetras and 2 have vanished. The only other fish in the tank are cory's and i know they could have had nothing to do with it. Any thoughts?
I have searched the whole aquarium for them but there might be a small chance i just didnt see them or there bodies

Hypancistus love dead fish!
My L333 ate a whole chocolate gourami in about an hour!
they wouldn't have killed your fish though.

Yeah, even small Bristlenose plecos will eat dead fish (in this case, dead baby molly...). Could only find the head after a few hours...
