I am looking to widen the feeding habits of the cats and sucking loaches that I have and having read an article in PFK from last year I am going to try and make up a paste from courgette, cucumber, lettuce and a couple of other bits and bobs suggested and put it onto a pebble to let the cats graze as in natural habitat. I don't think it is right that I should limit my corys and plecs down to one/two feeds a day and also all the fish have started attacking my new plants so I need something to take interest away from them.

Does anyone else do this and also before I make the paste will the cucumber, marrow etc need to be frozen as it does if I am just feeding sliced vegetables or will it be OK just blended down?

Whilst making paste may have some advantages, it seems like a lot of work to me. I just slice and when necessary boil the vegetable. My juvenile and adult plecos all eat nicely from slices, whilst a few week old babies will need some softer stuff, so boiling/freezing is necessary.

I'm sure that "one feed" is sufficient if the amount of food is sufficient, but pleco's (etc) are different from most other fish in that they are grazers, so they need a pretty much constant supply of food, so feeding them something that only lasts a few minutes isn't the right thing to do.

Cory's aren't herbivores, so they need more "meaty" stuff, and will quite happily take daphnia, bloodworms, tubifex, as well as pellets/wafers.

Not to sound like an advert, but the Screwcumber button at the top of the page is a goodie. I bought a set. I highly recommend them and they're not pricy. They don't impact the tank water since they're stainless steel. They weight down the food so you don't have to make them into a paste. The Pl*cos seem to attack the fruit and veggies with much more vigor when they stay in one place.

Best get purchasing them screwcumbers then hadn't I really!!!
