Is the in the Cat-eLog correctly I.D.'d? I think in a previous thread Silurus said they don't have spots, but the fish in these pics are spotted.

I got a syno the other day, sold as filamentosus. It does have a short dorsal filament, but I think it's actually , because it is covered in small dark speckles.

BTW does anybody know how big the two species get to be?

The spots in this species become smaller as the fish grows, and in time to come, the fish may appear almost completely devoid of them.

I now think the the eyes are too large and the snout too short for it to be either. So a long session with the Cat-eLog may be necessary.

The I.D. of S. filamentosus in the Cat-elog is correct. I have owned the fish on two occasions over the years. I recently lost my only specimen, about four inches in length with a small extension. I am not sure about maximum size, the largest fish I owned was about six inches in length as I remember but that was over 10 years ago.
