I'm confused. Is Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii the same as Brachyplatystoma flavicans? I can't find any info on flavicans but I keep seeing Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii, which I haven't heard of. The pics on the site look like flavicans.

Now I'm even more confused. What does Zungaro zungaro have to do with B. flavicans? These are two cats that look nothing alike. Was that information ever verified concerning the switch from flavicans to rousseauxii?

The name
Brachyplatystoma flavicans has been misapplied to
B. rousseauxii. The species (
flavicans) as originally described, refers to what is now called
Zungaro zungaro. The
latest study on Brachyplatystoma lists all valid species of the genus, and
B. flavicans is not one of them.

That's interesting. I can see why they finally put M. tigrinus as a Brachyplatystoma, it always looked and behaved just like one.
