What to feed large Plecos? Plz help

I have a 2 "common" Plecos that are about 12" long. I usually feed them Hikari Algae Tablets, but have recently noticed that the tablets are now too small for them. They fumble them quite easy and then the big, stupid comet goldfish suck them up almost immediately :ang: . Is there a larger tablet on the market? I am going away for two weeks and my friend is feeding them and I don't want them to starve. Thanks if you can help!

Thank you, Shane. That is excellent information.

It will be difficult for my friend to feed them vegetables, so I was wondering if there are bigger algae tabs or something similar. Thanks again :)

I would cut up suitable sized vegetables and freeze them, with a suitable "sink" included.

Then your friend can just take it out of the freezer and feed directly. Almost as easy to do as feeding wafers.

Just beware that the vegetable will loose some of it's structure by being frozen, so something that is pretty firm in the first place is best thing for this method. Carrot, potato, sweet potato or something like that.

Frozen round peas are good too, available straight in the supermarket, and doesn't take any preparing.

Frozen spinnach is usually available in "lumps" that are suitable portions [lumps should be about a spoon-full, not much more].

Hiya Mats,

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. I think I will try that idea! My Plecos thank you :)
