How can potaroensis/griseus be distinguished please?

Hm, well from what i can see, potaroensis has some faint black markings in the middle of its dorsal fin, of which griseus lacks.

Both species are from Suriname and are sympatric, C. potaroensis differs in that it has a completely black dorsal fin and is slightly longer in the head.

There are two other species, both undescribed that resemble C. griseus, C40 which comes from Rondonia in Brazil and C73 also from Brazil but further south in the Rio Madeira drainage. C139 is similar in colour pattern to C. potaroensis except the the black in the dorsal fin is restricted to the upper two thirds, the body is deeper and less elongate.

Here I feel there is a need to mention the availability of a new book "Identifying Corydoradinae Catfish" by Ian A. M. Fuller & Hans-Gerog Evers
