Hi Everyone,

The CSG Open Show on Sunday can only be described as a tremendous success. The number of exhibits were well up on last year, I am not sure of the exact number but i know it was around 140, I will have a breakdown of the species count later and a full results list and pictures of some of the winning entries will be posted on our website as soon as they are available.

Best fish in show went to a magnificent Synodontis decorus, the best Corydoras went to a superb C. pygmaeus, which was probably the largest male that I have ever seen at 27 mm SL. At the other end of the scale there was a Hemibagrus wyckii that weighed in around 55 cm SL. The overall quality of the exhibits was superb and probably the most pleasing for me were the number of breeders entries, all of which were excellent examples, so much so that four of the entries gained more than 90 points and were awarded Special Achievement Certificates.

As a change and probably something that will become the norn, all exhibitors were given a complimentary show pack as well as a fabulous amount of award prizes, so everyone went home with something. Today I visited a trade exhibition in Birmingham where I was able to personally thank all of our show sponsors, a full list with links are on the CSG web site.

The auction, which was held while the fish were being judged seemed to go very well. I did not see very much of the action as I was busy in the show hall, but my lots of young Corys seemed to go down very well. For those that missed this one the autumn auction will be held at the new venue in November, again details will be posted on the CSG web site as well as being distributed with this months Cat Chat.
