Paleatus Hatching!

Hi.
I collected the Paleatus eggs a couple of days ago (and again yesterday) and the first batch was hatching this morning when I woke. I couldn't believe it. They were much larger then I expected. I only have experience breeding Colisa lalia (Dwarf Gouramis). It doesn't seem to me that there will be enough yoke to sustain them a couple of days. If they hatched this morning when should I begin offering them food? Will they eat floating food or does it have to sink for them to find it?

Thanks!
Christie

Congrats on your spawn! :D I usually offer Paleatus fry food about 12-24 hours after hatching. You can mash up flake food into a powder-this will sink to the bottom. Some Paleatus like to feed at the top, some prefer to stay at the bottom. Within the same batch of fry, I'll see 8 feed from the bottom and 4 feed at the top. You can also offere baby brine shrimp or daphnia(frozen). I feed small amounts twice a day for the first 3 days, then down to once a day. Their bellies should be full, but not distended. Their bellies are visible at this time so it's easier to tell if they're full. I usually do a once a day water change with fry for the first week.

This is just what's worked for me. I'm sure there are lots of other ways to do this.
