Finally managed to get a pleurops. Its saucer-sized eyes remind me of the Martian in the Bugs Bunny cartoons, which was known to emit phrases such as this.
Do they have any special requirements? I'm keeping mine with my soloni and an alberti.

Yes, they are a bit different from most Synos.
1) More than most, they like veggies. They will eat plants and devour cucumber, etc. faster than any pleco I've seen.
2) As a rapids-dweller, it likes fast water and high O2
3) They're on the shy side, so best not kept with very boisterous fish
4) They tend to get ich more easily than most Synos.

Thanks. I'm planning to get some brichardi, since the tank is for fast-water cats. Eventually the pleurops will outgrow the tank, in which case I'll try him with my decorus and notatus.
I haven't seen him eat cucumber, but my notatus, eupterus and 'squiggly' angelicus all have been known to. Synos don't catch on to it quite as quickly as plecos, in my experience.
