Hi!

I have 2 Sorubim lima from different LFS and ive noticed some differences.

My first one was around 16 cm when i purchased it and it hasnt grown in a couple of months the other one iwas 18 cm when i got it a week or so later and its over 20 cm now...other differences are that the big fish has a rounded fatfin and the band on its side above the black stripe is bronze colored and very shiny. The smaller fish is more tuna like silver colored and its fatfin is triangular.
Anybodys got an idea if these are different Sorubim species or just local differences?

There are four species of <i>Sorubim</i> currently considered valid, but they are not distinguished by coloration or the shape of the adipose fin. The width of the body, position of barbels and the shape of the caudal fin are key characters used to distinguish them.

As usual, I have only pictures of dead fish that look pretty much the same.
Plus, I have only pics of three of the four species (<i>S. cuspicaudus</i>, <i>S. elongatus</i>, and <i>S. lima</i>, don't have one of <i>S. trigonocephalus</i>).
I can send you or anyone else interested the pics via email (just too lazy to upload them either to my server space or to an online photo gallery).
