does anyone know any good pellet food (definately not flake) that will float so both my angelfish and danios will enjoy? i was thinking about the larger pellet version of Hikari's Cichlid Staple, but any other ideas are welcome

I have had really good success with Tetra Color Bits. They are little red granules, not pellets but would be small enought to feed the fish you mentioned. I feed my Discus these.

While they don't float for long, they do sink slowly giving the fish plenty of time to eat before hitting bottom.

they sound ok, how long is not long to sink to the bottom? because i have these pellet / flake sinky things, and, well, theyre just crap

I would second the Tetra Colour Bits [aka Tetra Discus]. Smallish granules that slowly sinks to the bottom.

Buy the small pot to try it out. I think they are something like 3.95 for 50g, which should last you several weeks. If you (more importantly your fish) likes it, go buy a bigger pot.

I just timed it for you. I put a small pinch in my 55 Gallon it took about 9 seconds for the first granule to hit the bottom and after about 30 seconds 1/4 of the granules were still remaining on the top.

see, what i used to do was get sinking wafers, let them get a bit soggy, then press them against the glass, and the angelfish would pull the food off, but, plecos being as clever as they are, soon found them, and blocked the angelfish while it gorged itself

I'll third the Tetra Bits, and carry the motion...

Tetra have recently released down here "TetraMin" Tropical Crisps. My Angels and Tetras all love 'em. Also the Cichlids and Catfish.

They're a 5-6mm flat 'crisp' (thicker than flake), half of them float, half of them sink - and not very fast at all.

The only hassle I've had, is that I only know of one stockist, and he's not convenient.
