Yesterday evening, my group of C-129's were "breeding"...that is, the males chased the females, they went into T-position, everything looked excactly right, except there was no egg in the fin-pouch of the female.

My group has produced a few eggs a couple of months ago, but they fungused.

I use rainwater at a temp. of 24 degrees celcius.

The question is: Why didn't an egg appear? Could the fish be too young?

i had the same thing happen with my C57's.they did every thing butlay eggs, and these were also young fish so that could be the reason.and its common that when younger fish spawn the first few times that the eggs aren't fertile,it may take a few more times till they get it right.but keep on trying i'm sure you will see some wrigglers soon.

Ok, on another forum someone mentioned S. prionotus to behave this way too.

Hopefully it's just because the fish are young (they are 40-55 mm.).
They are close to the 50-55 mm's that are supposed to be adult size.

Anyway, I'll let you know if any progress is made.
