pimelodus blochii HELP

hey
i have pimelodus blochii with a bump/lump on his snout it has only recently appeared and does not appear red or sore in any way.
he has'nt bumped the tank side, its just not that sort of thing.
tank conditions are perfect : no nitrite or ammonia, ph and hardness are fine
can anyone help?
i hope its not anything serious, i've had him for 6yrs and i live in australia so he cost me $350. on the australian market ALL pims except p. pictus cost in the hundreds...

Is the fish showing any signs of discomfort (i.e. rubbing against the substrate or tank walls)? How big is the lump?
Might be a tumor, in which case there is no known cure, I'm afraid.

Any possibility of getting a picture of the afflicted region? It's kind of hard to tell what it is without seeing the actual shape and size of the lump.
Still sounds like a tumor of some kind to me.

its a shame but if theres no cure than theres not much i can do.
