S. polli/petricola ID opinions

Definitely some sort of petricola.

polli's do not have the white dorsal spine, and at this size should be fairly brown with darker spots.

it does have a rather large upperlip though.

Apart from that; the finnage, the stretched build and the overall pattern all point at petricola.

however; I think when more and more "species" ort varieties of both polli and petricola ere being discovered, and imported, more and more intermedeate forms like this will pop up.

Once it was thought there were just those 2 species with these qualities; petricola and eurystomus (now polli).
but IMO it's a whole community of closely related catfishes smack in the middle of explosive radiate evolution, and we're catching and keeping fish that are actually "in between" the various species/subspecies/varieties.

it will not get clearer, but more confusing every year.

Oddest looking petricola I've ever seen :shock: How big is it? Was it the only one like it, or are there more?
