Hi!

I noticed in the Corydoras gallery that some species are lebelled as this: Corydoras sp cf xxxx

If i recall right, it should either be Corydoras cf xxx or Corydoras sp aff xxx! sp and cf just can't be put together!!

Cheers
Yann

The same goes for aff.

So it is one of Corydoras sp., Corydoras cf. xxx or Corydoras aff. xxx.

You can have "Corydoras sp. aff" because you aren't sure of the species. You can't have "Corydoras sp. cf" though as you know the species.

Like â?? aff. (affinis) - believed to be similar but seperate species
Corydoras sp. aff. burgessi - an unknown species similar to C. burgessi

Different â?? cf. (confer) - believed to be the same species but a distinct form
Corydoras cf. sanchesi â?? a form of C. sanchesi.

That's my understanding anyhow.

I think what Yann and Heok Hee meant is when you use cf. and aff. , there's no need for a "sp." in front.

So "Corydoras sp. cf. burgessi "should just be "Corydoras cf. burgessi"

Cheers

Still not completely fixed:
Search sp. aff

Search sp. cf

Me, Birger or Marc should be able to fix these. I think I can have a go - it's about 20-30 species in total, so not too bad.

You are THE man! That's been something I've been meaning to do for years. I will look at the article referenced one.

When it was raised, I couldn't do it. I've been trying to look through the bugs section and find things that can be closed/easily resolved. And this was one of the oldest...

Now that IS helpful.

I'm open to you guys pointing me at which ones to tackle in what order. I tend to prioritise them by the time I have available. If it's a big change (or I think it is a big one prior to really getting into it) it can stay out for ages - but if there is a lot of want for it to be done, I can do it in chunks, it's just a little inefficient; not much.
