hi all
im in the process of building my first fish house and am trying to think of ways to run it .yesterday at a garden show i saw a stall advertising solar lighting kits for sheds etc.and i thought this could be a good idea to help ofset some of the running costs .has anyone tried this or have any ideas?

Could be worth looking into if it is cost effective to set up, but I would check into the reliability of it - the last thing you want power running low on is filters & pumps etc. Be sure it can be set up with the regular mains as backup.

Perhaps a more direct use of solar power in a fish room could be for lighting, using translucent roofing material in parts and positioning the building to take best advantage of the sun should also be taken into consideration.

You could also look into using solar heating for hot water, especially if you plan on having a decent sized reservoir for water changes.
