Adding new old species to Cat-eLog for completeness?

Does it make sense for someone (me?) to add for example the 42 or so species of Ancistrus in a bunch of data submissions, even if I haven't got much information (what I can dig out of Fishbase, etc)?

Would you rather do that later on when you get V2 up and running?

Does it make any difference if I enter them now, and you plug them into V2 if that makes more sense?

Or is it better to not have the species in the Cat-eLog if there's not much info besides the basic info of name, size and so on?

Mats,
I'm not going to answer your question, but I've got one for you. Do you know how to save a data submission? I'm planning to do several Tatias, which have a lot of data in common.
So I want to make one, save it and then adapt it with different information for other Tatia species.
I already tried to paste the data form into a word document, but that didn't work out. Any suggestions?

I'm sure this is not really relevant for this thread, but it's not like this is a major traffic forum either, so let's branch off in a sideways direction...

No, I don't know what the best way to do that is...

One idea would be to type in the fields you want into a word document or some such, and then copy'n'paste each section into the data submission.

So, you type in your name, e-mail address, etc, etc in sections for your data submission, and then copy each section and paste it in. At least it's faster than actually typing EVERY field as many times as there are species...

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I'll give it a try.

In answer to this, I'd generally say that adding species without images is best done once I have V2 up and running but that might be months. By "up and running", I mean that V1 will no longer have data added to it and all the data is over in V2.

Aside from this and the usual little things, I need to do a serious forum upgrade and add around 100 images from Chris Ralph.

A word document with a table laid out with an identical order and entries as per the data submission form would also work.

Guys

I will mentioned this elsewhere too, but the data submission process is now fully online and it's a LOT better than the old method. Just use the "edit this page..." link in any cat-elog page and get inputting.

As I have already discussed with Mats, the "add a new species" facility will be added in a few months once I get some data FROM YOU GUYS in place for what is already in the cat-elog.

And Jools pointed out that the best way to find (low hanging fruit) no-data entries is to look for fish with "No size" in the size-list. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/show_sizes.php

[I'll post a bug that I can't find the above linked in any of the menus/Cat-eLog home-page].
