hey there all i am a new memember and i have a question for you all
i have a 350 litre aquarium currently stocked with 6 x syno. eupterus 2x s. decorus 2x parauchenipterus fisheri,2x sailfin gibbiceps plecos, 4 x hoplos and a few glass catfish also i have 2 syno that i have no idea what species i've had them for 12 years and they are about 10 cm long
my question is would i be able to keep a pair of black lancer catfish in this tank? can you breed these guys in captivity? there is lots of wood and hollow logs - no plants and a fine sand for substrate i'm running 2 internal power filters and a canister filter

I had very bad luck once mixing a lancer with an S. eupterus that ended in the lancer's death. I do not think it is good combination. Lancers do best with fairly peaceful tankmates.

Agree with Shane. The Black Lancer SHOULD be kept with very peaceful fish. I lost two Lancers to two Feather fins back in the Phils. The feather fins just kept on chasing them. Funny, I also lost another here in Singapore because the normally peaceful King Bagrids (which they were kept with) would every so often go freaky and frenzied all over the tank thus bothering the Lancer. Seems like the Lancers have a "heart attack" with too much action.

Probably the best way to keep with buggers is if they are kept with guppies. Hehehehe. They might eat or slurp in the guppies though. Or better yet, kept alone in the tank.
