Anyone use slate that has a metallic luster to it when building caves? I bought a 5 pack of slate, some of it has a metallic luster to it.

I have used and have been successful with slate no matter how it looked. Metallic, streakeed with color etc. If worried, just soak it for a few days in DI. :D

"Metallic luster" as in shimmers as if there were millions of small metallic flakes in it?
If so, that sounds like glimmer slate to me, ie slate which has been modified by immense pressure and high temperatures. I'd expect it to be as safe as ordinary black slate.

Yeah, I figured it was safe, I am just soaking it in a bucket for a couple of days just to be on the safe side.
