Hi there,
i am new to this forum, though i have been visiting PC for sometime now... never thought of registering till this problem came up... my Albino Panagsius hypophthalmus seems to be ummm, eating the air from the surface of the water... the action is like when they eat food from the surface of the water... difference is, that there is no food... could any one tell me what's wrong with my fish, and how could i get it fixed...
thanks
Mohammad

Pangasiids are able to use their swimbladder as an accessory breathing organ. That's probably what it's doing.
What are your water parameters like, BTW?

Temperature's 28C nd PH level is 6-7

Without nitrate/nitrite levels, it's kind of hard to say whether or not the fish is uncomfortable (the other parameters are OK).
I still think it's just gulping air, though.

Mine have been doing it for a year now. It's a quick up for air then right back down. As long as it's not staying up at the surface I'm not concerned.
