Hey guys I am new to posting here but i have been lurking for a while. I have a catfish, I am pretty sure its a channel cat, but im not sure. It was sold to me a a suncat but i know its not. Anyway I had him in a 29 gallon with some rosy barbs and barbs and tetras, over a month or so span, both tiger barbs a rosey barb and a black skirt tetra dissappeared. I assumed the cat got hungery.I recently put him in a 75 galon as he is now 8 or so inches long. He is now livin with some young chiclids, and I noticed my 1.5" long jack demsey is nolonger anywyere to be found. Is it common for catfish to just get hungery and go for a lil snack? Could a 8 inch cat eat a 1.5" fish and leave no remains? I am just confused as to what happend. But I will go on assuming the cat ate em. Thanks.

If it fits in his mouth, he's going to eat it, yep!

Hi there
It all depends on what species of catfish you have as to what is will or won't eat. Go into the cat-e-log and check out the video clip of the OGRE CATFISH - it really makes you think of what can be eaten & making sure tankmates are suitable. It is always hard to resist a fish you really want in a store but a bit of research in advance will always pay diviends in the long run - for the fish & the owner
all the best - Richard B
