Suggestions on proper care for a tigrinus

Iâ??ve been keeping and breeding Cichlids for years but am new to the world of exotic catfish. I recently got a tigrinus. Any suggestions anyone could give me would be awesome. Iâ??m particularly interested in what feeding routines you recommend. Iâ??ve got him in a 240. He about 10 inches not including lyres, and eating very well. Iâ??ve been feeding him every other day. He happily accepts frozen krill, frozen squid, frozen silversides, night crawlers, live ghost shrimp and feeders. Please school me!

240 what? Litres, imp. Gallons or american ones?

American gallons. The dimensions are 8'x2'x2'

A real tigrinum, huh? Special find. Be sure he has a strong current to exercise in. Can get big but by then I'm sure you can get an even larger tank when the time is ready. Maybe you can post a photo of your little tigrinum sometime for the catfish clan and for remembering how small he was when you first got him.It's good to hear he has a good appetite

Im not too computer literate, and Im having difficulties uploading photos. I will however get some pics of the fish ASAP, I just need call over some "computer friends" to help...Stay tuned

I am at the same stage. Bought all the toys at one time and the photo thing is the most problematic for me. Sometimes I can do it sometimes I can't. I'm sure it will get easier.

I posted a photo of tigrinus on my "personal gallery" on my profile. Its not the greatest photo but sooner or later Ill get a better one .

Nice sized tank for a tigrinus, loads of current is good and I woudn't keep anything in there with him I've heard they are easily spooked and he may end up with a busted nose, mind you in a tank that length he should be ok.

I would note that there are often insteances where Tigs are fed too much high protien and become impacted. They can spend quite some time digesting a single peice of meat. If you see the fish is spitting food back up and trying to eat it again it would be illwise to feed any more.

I got a Mag drive 1200 for current. It make for a somewhat "whirl pool like" current. I thinking of plumming it River tank style. Had him now since Augest and hes growning quickly and very clean unbroken bars.
