Pleco ID help please

This is for another person on a fish forum I moderate on.
She just acquired this Pleco and supposedly it is 4 years old and only 2", however it was kept in disgusting conditions so very well could be stunted.

It IS a Common, I initially thought so but the markings didn't look quite right to me. That's why I came to you guys. ;)

If it's being kept "OK" from now on, it will probably grow out nicely, although it may not quite reach the heady lengths of 14" or so.
