Carbon filters

Has anyone here used an evolution aqua De-Tox inline carbon filter for filling tanks? they seem like a good idea but are an expensive outlay.....if they dont work so well.

I wouldn't bother - if you want clean water, you should use an RO unit - but I think you'll find that the water is fine without it...
9 liters per minute seems a bit slow too - unless you're filling up a tub before you do the water change, in which case you'd get the same effect (on chlorine) by aerating the water for 24 hours before using it - or adding a few drops of dechlorinator before filling the tank...

If your really keen on one of thoses machines its quite easy to make one yourself. Its pretty easy, basicly just copy their design using 2-4 inch pipe then silicon one end on and leave the other as a push fitting (so you can change the carbon) on the inside have the carbon sandwiched between two pieces of filter wool or simmilar to stop it escaping. I've got drawings for the some where I could try and dig them up if you want?
