I saw some of these in the marine section of a LFS, circling around each other like a big ball of eels. Not at all expensive, either. Does anybody have experience of them? How nasty is the venom they have?

Plotosus lineatus have a nasty reputation for inflicting extremely painful stings (the kind you have to stick the afflicted region in very hot water to denature the toxins). They are marine fish (although they can withstand brackish conditions) and although they school as young fish, are solitary as adults.
They also lose their stripes as they age and become more of a dull brown as adults.
