Hi!

Hypancistrus sp L201 has been believe to be the real inspector but the holotype show a black margin (seam) in the dorsal and caudal fins, features that can be seen in Hypancistrus sp L102 and no other Hypancistrus so far!!

Beside that, the 126mm SL would make ~14-15cm TL fish, once again far longer than any specimen of Hypancistrus sp L201 but would make Hypancistrus sp L102 far more matching the description...and having Hypancistrus sp L102 comig from the Rio Negro tend to make it highly similar to H. inspector!!!

But one thing is sure...Hypancistrus sp L201 isn't H. inspector!!!

Cheers

Can you have a look through the cat-elog and see if you think we do have any. Are you saying L102 is H. insepctor?

I just received a group of L102!

I didn't compare the fish measurement yet...but I have to say that it is the closest fish that fit the description!!!

The colour pattern fit 100% the Holotype!!!

It makes a bit of sense I suppose. I can't remember but does the description actually mention the "black ribbon"? However at least some of the pics from Shane are from the right place for the species, I will have a chat with him about it in a week.

Hi!

Well L201 description should be out next month!!!

L102 might really be H. inspector, Jon said he has only caught them in the Rio Negro
H. inspector can been ID with unraise dorsal fin not reaching the adipose hard ray base
size of the spots smaller than the one presents on the body.
That fits in every point L102 as I did check this one mine as early as yesterday night!!!
