No kidding about the quality - it would be very difficult to attempt an accurate ID solely on this - could you post a description, colours/patterns etc to assist? It looked like there was a pale edge to the tail near the end of the video which hints at a tanganyikan hybrid with granulosus parentage? (it looks too elongate for a granulosus?)

What was the fish sold as?

As much info as possible will assist with an ID

Cheers

I know its a hybrid syno, just thought i'd post a vid showing him hand feeding.

he was sold as njassae, but its quite obvious he isnt.

As hybrids go this is one of the better looking ones i've seen - good video clip apart from the quality - you've obviously got him/her settled & comfortable enough to feed from your hand.

Thanks for sharing this with us

This is NOT a hybrid. It is probably the same fish as this:

It's quite dark in the pictures of the first fish, but I'd say it has a "granulosus" type black with white edge dorsal fin. So, I'm not so sure they can be the same species.

Yeah, looking more closely at the pic, I see what you mean.

Cool vid. I had a Syno Granulosus which used to do the smae. Bought it that way. How you'd do this is beyond me.
