Would it be possible to change the registration form to force people to include their location?

If left blank, a dialog box could appear that informs people of why it is important.

This would perhaps cut down a lot of wasted time where people are reminded to include this information.

I think that can be done. Either that, or check before posting! However, there'll probably be a few that just fill in "Somewhere", "Earth" or something equally "fulfills the criteria but is meaningless". Should remove a fair number tho'

I have quickly hacked up a version of usercp_register.php (from phpBB2 ver 2.0.22) that contains a verification that Location isn't empty (and a related lang_main.php change to give specific error message, but it should probably be written differently). Would you want me to send you it (and which form: diff or full files)?

Oh, and of course adding a star after "Location" to show that it's a required field!

I've fallen foul of quick hacks to the forum software before (hence the reload a few months back). I've elected to install this:
