looks like they managed to crossbreed notatus with nitrita; I guess buying two notatus of different sex and breeding those was too expensive....bloody idiots!

Hybrid as previously indicated (& not one of the better ones either). i thought this was nigrita x ocellifer (?) & i have seen this one labelled previously as petricola on odd occasions!!!

Sid - you're right, it is getting a bit too much now but what can we do? Through the site & forums many are trying to educate fellow aquarists & some dealers are returning fish to wholesalers that they know to be hybrids or selling them on but clearly describing them as hybrid fish. However there are far too many & in various guises now - i am far from pleased. Genuine unidentified wild imports are hard enough to try & ID (when they appear)without the addition of new manufactured variants. Anyone wanna suggest if there is ANYTHING to try & minimise the flow of hybrids????????

I feel it is obvious to everyone that you cant stop the flow of hybrids. Look at C******s. I feel that if we just accept that this is going to happen, that this is what people do, then the "hybridizers" will feel more comfortable about revealing that they are doing it. This negates the underground mentality and brings it on board, then it is easier to track. And the buyer gains more power of choice as to weather they want hybrids or true 'purebreed' specimens.

Just for the record, I lean toward 'purebreds' myself.
