Feeding Syno Multis

Hello. First post. I really appreciate this forum. I recently added a Syno Multis to my Malawian cichlid tank. Everything is working out except I don't know if the Syno Multis is getting enough food. The cichlids seem to attack everything and I don't know if anything is getting down to the bottom. I tried sinking pellets and those get attacked too. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Most cichlids are quite "messy" eaters, so some food is probably being "missed" by the cichlids.
Other ideas include feeding after lights off (meaning in complete darkness).

Thanks Mats. I really appreciate it and that's reassuring. I will try the lights out system. I really like this catfish and it's very enjoyable and want it to do well.
I also would like to get it sexed to get it a companion.

I'm thinking that he may not be getting enough food. I fed the cichlids today and the Syno swam all the way to the top of the tank, turned upside down and tried to skim food from the surface of the water. That does not seem to be normal behavior or am I totally wrong?
Thoughts?

How did the Multi look when it came out to feed? Was it skinny? It is not unheard of for Synos to feed upside down at the surface, in fact its quite common. I have S. lucipinnis that take flake & pellets off the surface and there is no competitio for food in their tank.

Thanks Lornek. The Multi looked good. Not skinny at all. He was motoring around and looking for food. It is good to hear that is not strange behavior, thanks again. I just want him to do well.
