This little beauty was sent to me as being from Rio Xingu, but I couldn't find any pleco from that basin that matches it. Any ideas?

Looks like
(
Hemiancistrus sabaji).

Yeah that was exactly my first thought, but Peckoltia sabaji is from Guyana, not Rio Xingu, so that would imply there was a mistake in the fish's origin, which is a little bit wierd given the specifics of the situation (the owner is Brazilian and it's not common for plecos to be imported from other countries) but still quite possible I guess.
Let's see if anyone else can name a candidate from Xingu, otherwise I'll tell the owner that his fish really is P. sabaji from Guyana.

If you look at the distribution for the species, you will see that it includes Brazil.

Ah...I'd missed that because I looked only at the Type Locality. Xingu is in the southern part of the Amazon, but a mistake between Xingu and a northern Amazon river such as the Negro is a lot easier to understand. Thanks!
