what can i do to help my twitching sun catfish?

i have a sun catfish. as i stared closley at, i notice its swimming pattern has changed. as it swims, it occasionaly twitches in the direction it is going in. at one point, it twitched into the gravel :( . Any advice?

If it repeated "flicking" particularly where it rubs itself on the gravel or a stone etc it is being irritated by something on the skin.

Is this happening very occasionally or repeatedly? This could be a number of things but some external influence is likely. Is there anything visible? Have you fed non-safe live foods that might have had a contaminant? Without seeing exactly what is happening or how often it is hard to be 100% sure but treating with a standard cure for external parasites may be the way forward if this is a new occurance & it is happening regularly. Always be careful to work out the water volume so you don't overdose & be aware that some scaleless cats don't react well to treatments in the tank water. If you do treat at all err on the side of caution & closely monitor what is going on. It would be helpful to identify what circumstances preceeded the twitching starting in order to prevent it happening again

turns out my fish hat ich. it wasn't visable at first, but became really apparent couple of days afterwards. he's doing great now.
