Hi!

I am going to be setting up a tank to display smaller species of the Loricariidae family and am wondering what a general pH is good to go by? Also, what kind of substrate is generally preferred by the species of this family? Thanks!

I'll bid the neutral value, 7.0.
Next bidder?

Depending on the kind of water.

Blackwater - 5, whitewater 6,5

Most waters zomething between these extreme values, so I'd say 6

Somewhere between 6 and 6.5 will certainly do.

Hello,

As a general, I would have to agree with apistomaster. If you are only displaying, this is a nice medium for most species. If you are going for an accurate biotope tank, then it would be best to base it on the species from that area.
