Most Rineloricaria, provided they have access to appropriate sized spawning tubes and the females are ripe with eggs, can be set off with a 50-60 percent water change with rain or RO water that drops the temp 5-7 degrees F.

2" plastic is probably just fine. I've seen pictures of spawns in bamboo pipes of similar diameter, and most fish aren't too knowledgeable about the technical difference between natural and manmade materials.

Just make sure they sink, because some plastic pipes tend to be lighter than water.

Hello,

I know that this is going to look uncomfortable, but Rineloricaria normally need very tight fitting caves in my experience. I've had several species refuse to use the 1 inch pipes I normally use, but spawn within days after adding smaller diameter pipes. I would recommend a mix of 3/4 and 1 inch pipes till the fish decide what they want. After that, you can replace the unused pipes with something more to their liking.
