Im back!

After a very long time, i decided id check in on you guys!

Sadly, my trsted 60cm X 30cm X30cm tank has pretty much deteriorated. The plants have been wiped out by some mysterious algae, and im therefore left with 3 zebra Danios, and 5 'yellow banded Moenkhausia, in an almost bare tank, that i wouldnt even deem suitable for a quaranteen tank. Im hoping to give my tank a boost of life again soon though, as soon as i get a job. (I used to be one of the youngest members on here, but at 16, somones probably stolen the title away from me!)

So, ill keep posting and giving what aquarium knowledge i have (I havent forgotten a thing 8) ) until i can revitalise my tank, then ill be here with a flood of questions for you all!

Thanks,
Ollie

Nice to have you back.

I think a "good clean" (to get rid of the algae), a large water change, and some time to settle down. Then add some new plants and do regular water changes. Once the plants have settled a bit (a couple of weeks or so), you can start adding new fish.

:D I was hoping you'd speak in this thread

I think that sounds like a good idea, ill do that as soon as i find myself a job. Until then, i guess theyre just going to have to entertain themselves in that empty space!

Ah well, at least theyve got snails for company

Welcome back.

If I were you I would take the fish to the LFS, strip the tank down, sterilise and start again from scratch.

Perhaps try a new biotope or theme, but something simple and easy to maintain.

At your age its easy to be distracted and not pay the tank the attention it deserves

There are a couple of tips on avoiding algae in my Fishkeeping Basics article HERE
