Hi I was just wondering why some tigs have the nice zebra stipe pattern and some have a messy broken pattern. I have seen some with zig zag pattern at the end of their body and others have a mixed pattern of this and the zebra stripes up and down thier body. What could this be?
Thanks

I presume this is natural variation from individual to individual within the species. If you look at something else with a patteren like Synodontis Multipunctatus for example, no two individuals are alike, sure some are very similar but the pattern alters form one to the next & varies over the lifespan of the individual as it grows.

As well as individual variation Richard mentioned, it could also be variation by location as well. Many animals exhibit different color patterns at different locations...This often leads to much spirited debate as to if there are two (or more) species, or just one in question

Tigrinus is a highly variable species, with the patterns differing greatly from fish to fish.
