Hi, i'd really prefer people who actually have kept this cat to answer these general questions.

1. How fast does this catfish grow?
2. How is its temperament/aggressiveness usually?
3. How hardy is this species to water conditions?
4. What is the max temperature this cat can tolerate?
5. What have you fed this cat?
6. Do they take food from the surface?
7. How active are they? Details please.
8. Will they be fine in my 7.6ph water?
9. Will you help clean my fish tank on the weekends?

BTW welcome to planet catfish,

1 - not particularly fast, unlike clarias, pangasis or some of the big SA pims. Not a really slow grower either, quite average in fact!
2 - Peaceful & has never bothered any of the other fish i've kept with it
3 - Quite hardy once established - sometimes a little more delicate on import, so buy 'settled' specimens.
4 - not sure - mine is at 82 degrees at present
5 - prawn, tablets, pellets, earthworms, it's not fussy but a larger particle size is better
6 - Mine never has, but i don't offer floating food
7 - Pretty inactive really - they patrol when hungry or when food is offered but othewise just cram themselves into a crevice in bogwood - it is better to offer some cover as it's more natural for them
8 - yes - i accidently left one in a tanganyikan set-up that was about 8.7 - ther were no ill effects & a lone female became egg bound & dropped her eggs as there was no male present (i don't know if it is indictive but it went cream with bold black markings in very alkaline water as opposed to the rusty brown more regular colouring).
9 - of course, for travelling expenses!!!!!

I have some that were in a tank that reached about 37 degrees c in the summer and they were and are fine.
