My Raphael Cat looks like the white markings/spots have turned red. I recently treated the tank because most of the fish had ich. Any ideas?

Hi Katy,

Red sores etc are usually signs of a bacterial infection of some sort, and maybe signs that there is something amiss with the water quality, which if it is will have the result in weakening your fish, to which they are more at risk from this type of infection, (your Raphael has been weakened already), Check your water conditions, it might be just as simple as your ick treatment has had detrimental effects on your filtration causing the pH to crash and leaving you also with high nitrates.

If everything checks out OK, Try treating with Melafix, But; remember to increase the amount of air, you put into your tank. Melafix although a good treatment tends to lock up the dissolved oxygen in the water, and therefore this has to be counter acted by increasing air flow.

Thank you. I will look into all of that.
