I was feeding my fish this morning and I noticed that one of mt Syno's is missing an eye. i have him in the tank with several small Cichlids (less than 1") a s. angelicus, s. petricola, and s. decorus. He is the 2nd biggest fish in the tank and I haven't noticed any real aggression. Other than one of the other fish is there anything I should be concerned with as far as this missing eye. Illness?

which synos it & how big are they? I presume the eye was there before & is missing now? If all else looks ok then there could of been some sort of accident with a bit of decor? It would be an unusual occurrance to lose an eye with the set-up you have.

Lava rock can be a bit rough - i can only suggest that your fish has been startled or some other quick reaction movement & caught its eye. it sounds like a fairly unusual occurrance - the fish can live a long & happy life in this condition though.
