pleco care... please help

hey everyone,

i was just after a little advise, or some tips.
i have a goldspot pleco L001, however its markings are not the brightest
is there any way of improving them eg diet,water, habbitat etc

It needs someplace to hide, and it will need mostly vegetarian diet. Algae wafers can be fed, but ideally it should also get fresh vegetables. Green beans, courgette (zucchini), squash and cucumber are all popular foods, but by no means the only things these fish will eat. See the Article on the profile side of this post for more ideas.

Generally the colour and markings are determined by genetics, so a dull specimen will often stay a dull specimen.

However it is amazing how much better fish can look when cared for properly.

As Mats says, feed a varied diet, offer loads of sheltered hiding places and provide really clean water, and i'm sure your pleco will look better.

Good advice above - you don't say what other fish there are so i would propose having a few different places that the fish can hide away in so there isn't any disputes over a limited number of hidey-holes
