Otocinclus macrospilus?

I've had these for years but now I finally have a camera...
seems the nearest thing in the cat e-log. Pics are of 1 male and 1 female.

I would say your fish is an Otocinclus hoppei.

I'm with you on this. I have the same species and concluded they were (are) O. macrospilus based on the Cat-eLog pictures.

Thanks Mike and Mark. The O. hoppei looks like a good match as well. Anyone know of any distinguishing characters?

O. hoppei and O. macrospilus are extremely similar, to the point I may wonder if they do not grade into eachother, but fwiw macrospilus is distinguished by having a narrow unpigmented band separating the anterior part of the caudal spot from the crescent-shaped posterior part, while hoppei has a solid round or diamond-shaped caudal spot.
