black/gold spot pleco with long fins ????

I was told by the LFS that this is a gold spot pleco. I can't seem to find anything about that common name on-line and they've been wrong before.
I know it's not a common or gold nugget. Note the long caudal fin tips. Right now, it's about 1.5" long.
Any ideas?

Gawd I hope not... 15 inches????
Anyway, based on the images I would say yes. The description seems to be slightly different... based on the 'developed keels' and the caudal filaments seem shorter and less robust.
Could be though. I guess I need to get that tank upgrade I was planning on.

It is a poor pic but it sure looks like a juvi Acanthicus...

They grow a lot bigger than that, up to 39 inches. Similar to
Acanthicus hystrix, check out this pic:

It doens't appear to have an adipose fin. This means its an Acanthicus.

At least in Port Arthur, you have the option of building an outdoor pond to keep it. The ground temperature in Texas should keep it warm throughout the year. It may need a bit of heating during those rare cold-spells, but not the same problem as for us further north.
