I just got another one of these beautiful plecos and am wondering how to sex them and also breed them. I was told they are the Peckoltia vittata if that helps any. All info is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, some older books have pictures of Panaque maccus, with the caption Peckoltia vittata. The World of Catfishes
by Midori Kobayagawa I know for sure has it wrong and I think the Aquarium Atlas vol 2 is another example that is wrong - I'm sure others too.
Both are relatively easy to sex, but P. maccus is defintely no easy breeder - there is an article in the reproduction section of Shane's world if you want more details tho'.

Thanks for the replies. I spoke with the supplier and he said that they were actually the panaque maccus and not the peckoltia vittata like I had thought. So how would I be able to breed them? and also sex them?

Sexing is not particularly difficult IF you have mature specimens. Males are REALLY hairy on the back of the body.
Read the spawning report in Shane's World, and if you have SPECIFIC questions ask. [Although I may not be able to provide much of an answer, as mine has spawned twice, but I've not got any fry from either of those spawns].
