Rio 240 - Cat safe?

Just started thinking about the safety aspect of my new Rio 240. My older Rekord 96 had a nice lid that took the weight of a flying feline. I imagine that he'll only do this once with the Rio 240 as it looks as if the Rio's flaps aren't really cat friendly. Has anyone come up with an ingenius system to make this type of tank cat friendly? I've found this company http://www.edkins.com/acatalog/Aquarium_Hoods.html which makes aftermarket hoods which sound like the business, but if anyone has done something else I'd love to hear from you.

Ever onward...

Our cat's have been known to sit on the fishtank (RIO 400, which has a very similar flap construciton to the 240) on occasion. I agree that they could be made more solid - but I don't actually think it will be a problem unless your cat is quite fat (or vigorous).

Cool, thanks for that.

I'll look into it at the weekend. Did you get the aluminum in sheets and then weld them together as pieces?
