hy everyone
i know that is very difficult but someone had successful to make the pimelodus pictus reproduce?
someone can give me some info about this?
i have 3 in my tank and they are about 12-13 cm long,i upload one picture of them

I am not sure but i don't think the pictus has been bred by hobbyists, only by commercial breeders. If it has it is indeed a rare occurrance & one without much detail.

We'll need to see what other people post

I didn't even think they were commercially bred - but I have no evidence of that, just what I've understood by "reading between the lines".

Mats, i seem to recall reading about them being bred commercially in PFK or FAMA a number of years back. However i can't remeber seeing any other articles about this?

I remember something about someone trying to keep them in donut shaped big tanks with current trying to copy the feel of migration or something similar....very vague,I have no idea where I got that from though

I can imagine migratory fish need migration. For instance, salmon only ripen their eggs during the migration, I was told once. However, the migration will, most likely, be triggered by currents (whether the fish goes upstream or downstream, they will have to orientate somehow) and such currents might be hard to produce

However, a ring of powerheads in the doghnut tank could, perhaps, do the trick
