Hello. I have been browsing this site off and on for a little over a year now, but have recently just started really getting into the catfish side of the hobby. I started my hobby when I was about 6 years old 2 gold fish and a chinese algae eater from Wal-Mart. I later moved on to a tropical tank in which I had my first pleco. I maintained that tank for about 2 years until I moved and had to break it down. I took a sabatical from the hobby for almost 10 years after a stint raising convicts and about a year ago I got back into it fast a strong with Cichlids.
I've had 10 Brochis splendens for about a year in my 55 gal with Firemouths and my female Jack Dempsey. I also adobted a pleco which tragically died at the hands of my convicts.
I found this site in my serach for central american cats. A search that led me to the assumption that they are either to large for my setups, or arne't available to the hobby.
At any rate, my interest in catifish was piqued when I saw these neat little Banjo Catsin a LFS. I had not planned on buying anything that day, but for $3 dollars, who could resist? Since then I have spent countless hours reading and researching other cat species. I now am the proud parent to two Striped Raph's, a Spotted Rapheal, and Blonde Rubbernose Pleco. Currently all of those are in my quarintine tank awaiting placement in my main tanks. I am also planning on purchasing more Banjo Cats.
This site has helped me make informed decisions on what cats to go for and which to avoid. Well I guess that's it, I look forward to all the tips, ideas, etc. that this forum can offer.
